Use the right size and speed

Enter the total transfer size and, if downloading has already begun, the amount completed. Both size fields use your selected unit. Alternatively, enter only the remaining size and leave the completed amount at zero. Choose GB for decimal gigabytes or GiB for binary gibibytes to match the launcher.

Enter your connection speed in megabits per second (Mbps). If your launcher shows megabytes per second (MB/s), multiply that figure by eight first: 12.5 MB/s equals 100 Mbps. Do not enter an MB/s figure unchanged in the Mbps field.

Formula and assumptions

Time in seconds equals transfer size in bytes multiplied by eight, divided by effective bits per second. One GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes. One GiB is 1,073,741,824 bytes. One Mbps is 1,000,000 bits per second.

The throughput allowance scales the speed you enter to reflect a slower sustained transfer. Its default is 85%, which you can change. It is an assumption you choose, not a measurement of your internet service. The estimate assumes a constant average rate and uninterrupted downloading.

  • Hypothetical example: 100 GB at 100 Mbps with 100% throughput takes 8,000 seconds, or 2 hours 13 minutes 20 seconds.
  • The same hypothetical transfer at 80% throughput takes 10,000 seconds, or 2 hours 46 minutes 40 seconds.
  • Zero remaining size means the transfer is complete. A positive size with zero speed cannot produce a finite completion time.

What the result excludes

The result excludes installation, unpacking, shader preparation, launcher queues, pauses, later patches and server availability. Wi-Fi congestion, other downloads and the content server can change the rate after you calculate. Use a sustained observed speed when possible and recalculate if conditions change.

The published PC SSD requirement is not the same as the download size. Always use the current launcher’s transfer amount rather than a storage figure copied from a requirements table.

Your calculation stays in the browser

The calculation uses your entries locally. We do not send download sizes, connection values, selected time zones or free text to Google Analytics. Copying a result uses your browser’s clipboard permission and only reports success when the browser confirms it. Changing inputs invalidates an old result so it is not mistaken for a fresh estimate.

Does finishing the transfer mean I can play?

No. The installation, required updates, account entitlement and applicable access window still need to be ready.
