What the official statement actually confirms
A subscription that includes older Call of Duty titles does not automatically include this new release. Likewise, seeing Modern Warfare 4 in the Xbox app is not proof that it is part of your subscription: the app also sells games. Read the purchase or subscription label on the actual product page.
| Question | Current sourced answer |
|---|---|
| Included at the October 23, 2026 launch? | No; a separate purchase is required |
| Future availability? | Official statement says Holiday 2027 |
| Exact addition date? | Not verified |
| Which future tiers, regions or cloud options? | Not specified in the checked statement |
Decide whether to buy or wait
If you want to play at launch, compare the current Standard and Vault listings for your platform. If you prefer to wait for the subscription release, treat Holiday 2027 as the currently announced window and recheck the official policy before making plans around a particular day.
Avoid paying for a higher subscription tier solely on the assumption that it unlocks Modern Warfare 4 now. This guide has not verified such a launch entitlement. Subscription pricing, offers and available catalogs can vary by market, so the signed-in account’s current store information is the final purchase check.
Game ownership and online access are separate
A console’s online service requirements and access to the game itself are different costs. Buying a game may still leave platform online-play conditions to meet; a subscription that supplies online access need not include the game. Check both lines before budgeting for Multiplayer or DMZ.
Early access also has its own digital pre-order terms. The announced Campaign and DMZ windows should not be read as free Game Pass trials or a reason to buy the same title twice.
What would change this answer?
A newer official catalog announcement with a date and applicable tiers would supersede the broad Holiday 2027 wording. We update this page when the policy changes materially. A retailer tag, social post without a source or another game’s subscription history is not enough to change the answer.
