The DMZ loop: prepare, deploy, extract

The official overview combines story missions, dynamic activities, enemy combatants and rival players. A deployment is not simply a deathmatch: what you carry, the objective you choose and whether you leave safely all affect the next decision.

The October Hajin guide describes the Forward Operating Base as the preparation hub. Stations include Operator management, a Stash/Loadout area and DMZ Orders. Read your current Order and equipment state before entering the zone rather than deciding your entire plan after the first fight.

Build a modest first-deployment plan

For an introductory run, learning a route and recovering useful supplies can be a better goal than chasing every encounter. This is a risk-management suggestion, not an XP ranking. We have not measured a fastest progression route or published a database of loot probabilities.

  • Pick one primary task from your current DMZ Orders and read its exact completion conditions.
  • Check your selected Operator, weapon and equipment before deployment.
  • Decide what would count as enough progress to justify leaving.
  • During the run, inspect the Tac-Map and the changing threat information before adding another detour.
  • When you return, sort useful items into the Stash and review what blocked your objective.

Match the activity to your preparation

The official Hajin guide identifies loot, Orders, Operations and higher-threat encounters as different ways to progress. Their rewards should not be compared without accounting for survival, equipment and the objective you actually need. Avoid using a guide for the older DMZ beta as if its inventory, map and recovery rules were automatically identical.

ActivityQuestion before committing
LootingDoes the item help my current Order or next preparation step?
Dynamic or Side OperationCan I finish it and still reach a viable exit?
Lieutenant huntDo I understand the area and the attention this reward may attract?
Rival Operator engagementIs this necessary for my task, or can I avoid the fight?
Another detourWhat do I lose if the run ends before extraction?

Know when to leave

A useful extraction decision starts before the inventory is full. Recheck your task, remaining supplies and route whenever the situation changes. Continuing just because one more activity is nearby can erase the value of an otherwise successful run.

The official HUD guide describes time and radiation information alongside map threats. Use the current on-screen state rather than an assumed fixed schedule from a video. We do not list unverified extraction coordinates, boss respawn timers or a guaranteed safe path.

Access and related guides

The announced digital pre-order DMZ window begins October 20. It is separate from Campaign’s October 16 window and from the August beta. Check the access guide if the mode is locked before investigating equipment or progression.
