Release date and current status
October 23 is the announced full release date. Campaign and DMZ have separate digital pre-order access windows; reaching one of those windows does not make the entire game available. This page was checked on October 22 and describes announced schedules, rather than live server availability.
A date is not a single worldwide instant. Midnight on October 23 in one time zone can fall on October 22 elsewhere. A countdown is useful only when the platform rule and the time zone that governs your entitlement are both known.

Use the time tool above to inspect a supported rule. It does not inspect your account, change your region, detect entitlement or certify that the servers are reachable. If a selected platform has no verified exact rule, the tool keeps its time unknown.

Preload and download preparation
The PC publication lists preloading from October 15 at 9:00 AM PT for digital pre-purchases. A preload lets you transfer files ahead of time; it does not grant access before the relevant window. We have not verified console preload times and do not reuse the PC schedule for them.
Read the size displayed in your actual launcher. The PC storage requirement is an installation-space condition, not a promise that your download will transfer that many gigabytes. Selected content, patches and existing files can change the transfer. Leave room for updates and unpacking.
Before the scheduled unlock
When a calculated instant passes, the tool reports that the scheduled time has been reached. That is a clock result, not a worldwide release or server-health claim.
- Confirm you purchased the right platform version and are signed into the purchasing account.
- Install required content, apply available launcher updates and finish any shader preparation.
- Verify your device clock and check the storefront’s region and displayed countdown.
- If the scheduled time passes but access fails, check official service information before reinstalling a large download.
Frequently asked questions
Does COD MW4 unlock everywhere at the same instant?
The checked PC article uses midnight local time. We have not verified an exact rule for every console region, so a single global countdown would be misleading.
Does preloading mean I can play?
No. Downloaded files and a valid license still need the applicable access window to open.
Is the beta still an option?
The announced beta windows ended. Use the full release and current entitlement information rather than an old beta download or code.
